Nikolai Tarabukin
1889–1956
Nikolai Tarabukin was a Russian and Soviet art and theater historian, and a theorist. In the 1920s and 1940s he taught at Vkhutemas, the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography, GITIS, Moscow State University, Moscow Art Theater, and the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute. His publications on art theory include An Experiment in the Theory of Painting (1923), Artist in a Club (1926) and The Problem of Space in Painting (1993).
