This is the first fundamental work on Soviet jazz, covering the period of the 1970s and early 1980s. The collection consists of four sections. The first contains statements about jazz by prominent Soviet composers. The second contains theoretical articles, the third contains articles about individual performers and groups, as well as a panorama of jazz of 1970-1982. At the end there is a discography, reviews of books on jazz, and a glossary of terms.
