
Norman Mailer
1923—2007
Norman Mailer was an American novelist, journalist, essayist, playwriter, film-maker, actor and political activist. Не entered Harvard University in 1939, where he studied aeronautical engineering. Mailer is considered an innovator of creative nonfiction, a genre sometimes called New Journalism. He was a filmmaker and played himself in a number of films. His novel, The Naked and the Dead, was published in 1948. His best-known work was widely considered to be The Executioner's Song (1979) and Armies of the Night (1968) for which he won two Pulitzer Prizes.
